National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month

What is Oxfest
Oxfest
2009 is a one day musical celebration in recovery from addiction. The day starts with our partner event Hands Across the Bridge starting at 10:00am. Oxfest starts directly after Hands Across the Bridge about noon. Multiple bands, food vendors, family activities, waterslide, bouncy castle, a raffle and a multitude of other games. Oxfest 2009 is expected to have more than 2,000 people in attendance. Oxfest is a free event for anyone in recovery and their families and supporters put on by the 400 Oxford Houses of Oregon and Washington and their related Chapters and State associations.

What is Oxford House
Oxford House, Inc. is a nonĀ profit organization dedicated to providing an alcohol and drug-free living environment for men and women recovering from alcoholism and/or drug addiction. Each Oxford House is a self-run, self-supporting family in recovery, providing the opportunity for individuals to become responsible, accountable and productive members of society while living and growing in an atmosphere of caring, understanding and group support.

There are currently over 1,500 Oxford Houses nationwide, and the Northwest Region is the most progressive movement of Oxford Houses in the country. We presently number 340 Oxford Houses in Oregon and Washington, which are home for 2,900 recovering men, women and children. Oxford Houses are proven to work, recently being acknowledged as an evidence-based practice.

Because Oxford Houses are self-supporting (members pay house rent & utilities themselves), they are not a burden on taxpayers, nor are they direct recipients of any State or Federal funding. To defray the costs of this event, we humbly ask for your community support in the form of material donations and/or monetary contributions to assist us in celebrating this remarkable resource. Some of our needs include the following:
